Josh Trank just keeps on moving up in the world—after directing the “it’s kind of like the X-Men but in the ‘real world’” film Chronicle, Trank was tapped to direct the 2015 reboot of The Fantastic Four. And even though we’re still a year away from that flick, Trank is now set to direct a standalone Star Wars film.
Trank—whose first short film was the Star Wars-y Stabbing at Leia’s 22 Birthday—will be helming one of the Star Wars side films (likely set for a 2018 release) that take place in the overall Star Wars continuity but focus on individual characters.
No word yet on which character Trank’s film will focus on. More on this as it develops.
