When Dimension Films released a series of character posters for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For last week, Eva Green was no where in the mix, and now we’re learning why. It looks like the MPAA thought Green’s character poster was too damn sexy for the internet too see, and as a result, slapped it with a giant rejection for “under the breast and dark nipple/areola” visibility. Check out the poster below, and judge for yourself.
PageSix managed to get its hands on the poster, which was ready to debut with the others before the MPAA stepped in. The whole reason why the association rejected the poster was “for nudity – curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.” This means that Green’s poster (below) won’t be seen in theaters or any public places for that matter. Check it out:
As you can see, Green is also holding a gun, but of course the MPAA didn’t have a problem with that. (They never do.) Let’s face it, the MPAA is notorious for censoring anything that has to do with women’s sexuality, and this just reassures us that they haven’t evolved past that mindset. Perhaps Green’s poster will be tweaked somehow so that the association can accept it, but that seems totally unnecessary, don’t you think?
Directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For opens in theaters on August 22. The comic book adaptation sequel stars Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Josh Brolin, Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Jamie Chung, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Julia Garner and Stacy Keach.
What do you think of the poster? Is it as provocative as the MPAA makes it seem?
