This news is just breaking, so expect more updates on this soon—but as it stands, hang your heads low, comic book movie fans, as Edgar Wright has parted ways with the Marvel production of the Ant-Man adaptation he was set to direct.
Little is known about the specifics of the situation, aside from this blurb published by Deadline:
Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.
Perhaps Wright had too strong and idiosyncratic a vision to fit into a film that also had to stand as a building block for The Avengers 3? More on this as it develops.
