Now that much of the cast for J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII has been revealed, it’s time to start fawning over other Star Wars-related things like the movie’s working title. Ain’t It Cool News‘ Harry Knowles is the first to break news that Episode VII has the working title of The Ancient Fear, which is a reference to Max Von Sydow‘s villain in the film.
According to AICN, The Ancient Fear refers to Max Von Sydow’s villain “who makes Pazuzu look like a pussy!” So, now we not only know the working title of Episode VII, but also that Von Sydow is playing one of the film’s villain, as many suspected he would.
The internet is going crazy over this unofficial working title (and with good reason)t. Many sites have tried to reach out to Abrams’ team to get an official word on said title, but no one seems to be getting an official answer. Still, Knowles is a reliable source. He was, after all, the guy to break the news that Episode I was titled The Phantom Menace in 1998. Also, the title, The Ancient Fear, does fit in well with past titles – Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
Regardless of what title Star Wars: Episode VII ends of getting, the movie is hitting theaters December 18, 2015.
How do you feel about the supposed official title?
