After Warner Bros. announced Batman Vs. Superman, it was only a matter of time before they confirmed that they were going to bring the Justice League of America to big screen. And that they have. Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman revealed to that Zack Snyder will direct Justice League.

The Wall Street Journal (via /Film) reports that the screenplay is already in development, but no official writer has been announced. Silverman stated that Batman Vs. Superman will lead into Justice League, showing “a further expansion of this universe.”

The movie will bring together Henry Cavill‘s Superman, Ben Affleck‘s Batman and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman. Ray Fisher, who’s set to play Cyborg in Batman Vs. Superman, will also be in Justice League. His character will have a bigger role in the latter film.

There have been some reports that Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League would be shot back-to-back, and that Justice League would be arriving in theaters as early as Summer 2017. THR‘s Borys Kit recently Tweeted that the movies will indeed “shoot back to back” and that the announcement will be made at Comic Con.

The Justice League is made up of several different characters. Snyder’s team of superheroes is expected to also include Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern (along with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman).

This isn’t the first time that Warner Bros. has attempted to make a Justice League movie. In 2008, the studio wanted George Miller (Mad Max) to direct a movie with a young cast, but the project was killed right before production. In said film, Armie Hammer was set to play Batman, D.J. Cotrona was Superman, Adam Brody was The Flash, and Megan Gale was Wonder Woman.

Speaking of Wonder Woman, Sue Kroll, president of woldwide marketing at Warner Bros., mentioned that the studio is almost ready to give the Amazon princess her own movie. She mentioned that “with the right script, that could be viable” because “the world is ready for her.”

What do you think of Warner Bros.’ choice of director? Are you excited for Justice League?
