Jessica Chastain, who’s notably one of Hollywood’s hardest working and most talented actresses, is being courted to play the female lead in Mission: Impossible 5 alongside Tom Cruise. But this is only a rumor.
Schmoes Know is reporting [via /Film] that Chastain has been offered the lead role in the Mission: Impossible sequel, but talks have yet to begin. The site mentions that Chastain would play the “right-hand woman” to Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. We’re not sure if that means she’ll also play his love interest, or if their relationship will strictly be professional. It could also be a little bit of both.
Chastain is one of the most talented actresses working today. We all know that strong female roles aren’t all that popular in Hollywood, but her hard work has paid off. She’s managed to grab some pretty amazing roles, two of which earned her Oscar nominations (for her work in The Help and Zero Dark Thirty). Joining a major franchise like this one would be a good career move for Chastain. This would perhaps push her into super-stardom, but she has a lot on her plate.
The actress is currently finishing Guillermo Del Toro‘s Crimson Peak, and has three other films lined up including the Andrew Dominik‘s Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde .She’s set to appear in Eleanor Rigby, A Most Violent Year and Interstellar.
Mission: Impossible 5 will re-team Cruise with director Christopher McQuarrie. The film is scheduled to open Christmas Day 2015.
What do you think? Would Chastain be a good fit for Mission Impossible 5?
