Remakes are not easy. As harshly as we judge them, it’s highly doubtful that any filmmaker, or in this case, TV network, sets out to make a bad remake. But when you’re trying to adapt something that’s already been successfully adapted before, like for example, Roman Polanski‘s iconic horror film Rosemary’s Baby, you better get ready for some harsh comparisons. With that said, the first trailer for NBC’s Rosemary’s Baby has debuted online. Check it out below.
In the story, Rosemary (once played by Mia Farrow) is the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.
This new TV adaptation appears to stay true to the original film and Ira Levin’s novel. Saldana’s hair is even modeled after Farrow’s infamous pixie cut. But overall, the trailer makes the series look a lot more dramatic than scary, and that’s not what this story is about. Check it out:
NBC’s Rosemary’s Baby is a two-part mini-series that will air on May 11th and May 15th. Adaptation from Ira Levin‘s novel, the series is directed by Agnieszka Holland and stars Zoe Saldana and Patrick J. Adams.
