For his next Marvel film, Paul Bettany will step out from behind a mic booth and unto the big screen. The actor, who voices J.A.R.V.I.S., has confirmed that he will play the role of Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. On Friday night, Bettany appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the host brought up the actor’s role in the upcoming Avengers film. Bettany couldn’t reveal too much information, but he confirmed his role and gave a little tease.

“Oh I can do all sorts of things, but I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me…It’s very exciting for me, but everything is a double edged sword, right? Because I was playing J.A.R.V.I.S. for years and my job was i would turn up at a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, and then they would give me a huge bag of cash and then I’d go home. Now it turns out they’ve found me out and they want me to actually do something!”

Vision has a number of super powers including the ability to alter his density and mass and phase through objects, as well as possessing superhuman strength, agility and reflexes, plus the power of flight. The character is a “synthezoid” creation of Ultron, but eventually turns on his creator and joins the superhero group. Here’s Bettany talking about his role:

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age Of Ultron also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Kretschmann, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. The gigantic superhero film will hit theaters on May 1, 2015.

Are you a fan of Vision? Do you think Bettany is the right man for the role?
