The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to kick off the summer in a little over two weeks, and the film is definitely in the final stretches of it’s marketing campaign. They’ve screened over thirty minutes of footage, have had multiple trailers and clips online, and now are dishing out new TV spots that seemingly reveal much of what happens at the end of the film.
But, first up, last night ASM2 revealed a new clip from the movie that shows Andrew Garfield‘s Peter Parker/Spider-Man dealing with Electro (Jamie Foxx) and his superpowers. Though previous Spider-Man movies have shown the web slinger have spidey-vision, this may be the most extended sequence of it since the first Sam Raimi film. It’s also one of those effects sequences that impresses regardless of how digital it might seem. There is no other way, but there’s also a gravity to the effects work. Check it out:
Interesting music choices, no? Also of note is that the film has released a couple new TV spots, and they seem to spell out something that is evident to anyone with a cursory knowledge of the Spider-Man mythos. Now there’s a Green Goblin in Dane Dehaan, and there’s Emma Stone‘s Gwen Stacy, and… well, see for yourself:
Okay, so that may not show what we think it shows, but it definitely suggests that the film ends on a down note. Which makes sense as this was originally the middle chapter in a trilogy, though now it’s the second in a four film cycle that also includes as least two spin-off movies, and one that cut Shailene Woodley‘s part as Mary Jane Watson. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens May 2.
Do you think they go there?
