Though we’re still more than a month away from the release of Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the MTV movie awards are a good opportunity to promote some of the biggest movies coming this summer, so the film has released a clip showing off its many mutants.
While the clip doesn’t focus on the film’s most famous mutants (which is to say that Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence are noticeably absent), we do see Ellen Page and a number of the supporting X-Men preparing to do battle with the sentinels, the sentient, liquid metal-esque robots that are programmed to wipe out all mutants. This features a lot of action, with level hopping, and both fire and ice used as a way to attrack or distract the evil robots. Here’s that clip:
This appears to be the start of a scene that was recently shown to journalists, with this sequence setting up the time travel aspects of the film, but for the MTV movie awards, it was more important to just show some action. As for the scene itself, the franchise has never had particularly great action, and this may feature some of the best fights of the series, but the level hoping seems straight out of a video game (as do some of the effects). We’re cautiously optimistic about the film, which hits theaters May 23. This film will release a final trailer this Tuesday.
Are you pumped to see the X-Men finally battle the sentinels?
