While each day seemingly brings us a new update from the production of a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Sony’s burgeoning Spider-Man film universe, the ever-expanding Star Wars and Jurassic Park franchises, an X-Men film, or from Batman vs. Superman, 20th Century Fox has been playing it relatively cool with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, their sequel the 2011’s surprisingly not-bad Rise of the Planet of the Apes. We’ve seen a trailer, and some shots of apes on horses, but that’s about it.
Today, though, we’ve got 10 new shots to pour over from the film, though they don’t tell us much of anything we didn’t already know. Imagine that—a film unwilling to unload all of its spoilers prior to release! Who could imagine such things?!
Anyway, the pics—most of them feature groups of really pissed off apes, led by a shotgun-wielding, horse-riding Caeser, so things aren’t exactly looking well for the humans vs. apes skirmish. And hey, they tossed Gary Oldman in there for good measure.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set for a July 11 release date, and was directed by Matt Reeves. In the film, “a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”
What do you think of the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes shots?
