Summer is just around the corner, which means that we’re edging that much closer to seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in theaters. Twentieth Century Fox chucked out a new television spot today, showing how far the sudden evolution of these apes has gone in between this film and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The people who have seen Planet of the Apes know how intelligent the mammals are, proving how great the evolution turns out in the long run. In Dawn we’re right at the cusp of seeing some major evolutionary changes with these genetically enhanced apes, which means they’re going to be doing a lot more than just running around, swinging on trees. In the television spot below, we see quite a few of them mounted on the backs of horses, which isn’t good for the human race. What else will they manage to do in Dawn that humans believed was impossible for them to do and/or achieve? We won’t know until we see the movie in theaters May 23, 2014.

Dawn is directed by Matt Reeves, the same man who made Cloverfield and Let Me In, which means he at least has a firm grasp on the drama that comes with unforeseeable events. He’s accompanied by a fantastic cast that includes Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Toby Kebbell, Judy Greer and many more.

What do you hope to see the most in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes?
