If there’s one premise that screams subtlety, it’s a film adaptation of a Hercules comic book, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and directed by Brett “seriously, I got paid more than you’ll make in a lifetime to direct the Rush Hour series, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Tower Heist” Ratner. So imagine our befuddlement when the official poster and images for said film seem a little more than just low-key.
Actually, the new imagery is pretty much what you would expect—Johnson’s swollen musculature is fake-tanned to a very healthy and natural orange glow, while he swings things and screams a whole lot.
Here’s that poster:
And here are a few images from the film:
The film was adapted from the comic book, Hercules: The Thracian Wars, and co-stars Joseph Fiennes, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Rebecca Ferguson, Askel Hennie, and John Hurt. Also, thanks to Brett Ratner, it will feature an almost disturbingly bland vacuum of any directorial style whatsoever. Cinema!
Hercules is set for a July 25 release date.
What do you think of the new Hercules imagery?
