When it was first announced that NBC would be moving forward with a mini series remake of Rosemary’s Baby, there were a number of skeptical people, fans of the original, who weren’t too keen on the idea. Then again, it’s introducing the story to a new generation, so production moved forward on the show. Now we’re seeing the first glimpses of the mini-series, and it looks almost shot-for-shot similar to the original.
The first question that comes to my mind is whether or not the filmmaker of the original, Roman Polanski, is in any way flattered or possibly offended by the upcoming remake. It is easily one of his most iconic movies out there, a staple of fine storytelling and horror rolled up into one. The mini-series obviously isn’t aiming to be the second coming of horror on television, but from the look of the images below, the show isn’t separating itself too much shot-by-shot wise from the original.
Either way, I’m intrigued to see Zoe Saldana‘s performance, and I’m happy to see her in a role that doesn’t require her to be running around in some random sci-fi terrain. She’s become quite the icon in the science fiction world but it’s nice seeing her in other genres for a change. She’ll be sharing the small screen with actors Jason Isaacs and Patrick Adams in the mini-series, set to debut towards the end of this year.
Are you going to watch the Rosemary’s Baby mini-series when it’s on TV?
