Sony’s continued media saturation of all things The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues today, as the studio apparently plans to release every second of footage from the film in teaser, trailer, TV spot, or clip form. The studio desperately, desperately wants to build a multi-film platform for the Spider-Man universe (a la The Avengers), and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 needs to do a ton of business in order to justify further sequels and spin-off films. All of which is why we are now going to watch a sparkly blue Jamie Foxx do battle with Spider-Man and a NYPD sniper in Times Square.
Today’s clip comes from a sequence that has already been teased in just about every teaser or trailer for the film—Electro reveals himself to the world in New York’s Time Square while Spider-Man drops some quips and everything is tinged in red or blue for better 3D effect. That’s really all you need to know. Dig it:
Well, there you have it. It looks fun enough, though the first film’s mediocrity still leaves us a little wary, and a lot of what we’ve seen of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 looks like one giant video game. Guess we’ll find out when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released on May 2.
What do you think of the clip?
