President Barack Obama appeared on Zach Galifianakis‘ Between Two Ferns, and reminded us, once again, that you can be the coolest guy on earth and still do the hardest job there is to do. He wasn’t there just for fun though. Officially he went on to plug his the Affordable Healthcare Plan, and he chose an interesting platform, but also a funny and sort of strange one. Still, kudos to him for being unique. Check out the clip below.
Galifianakis doesn’t adjust his faux-dry and standoffish persona for the President of the United States, and their conversation is pure gold. The host introduces President Obama as a community leader, not the leader of the free world. “What is like to be the last black president?” Galifianakis asks. But President Obama is well prepared and says things like “What is it like for this to be the last time you speak to a president?” He also makes some painful jokes about The Hangover III, saying, “If I ran a third time, it’d sort of be like doing a third Hangover movie. Didn’t really work out very well, did it?” (Burn.)
Then he brings up Bradley Cooper, and Galifianakis gets a little emotional. “Being tall and handsome, that’s easy. Being short and fat and smelling like Doritos and try to make it in Hollywood. [That's hard]” he barks back.
And then President Obama talks up his Affordable Healthcare Plan. Galifianakis does ask a few good questions that “the kids” would ask, like not wanting to sign up because the government will be “looking at your texts.” The government doesn’t care about your texts, President Obama assures (though we don’t know if we trust him on that one yet.) Still, the whole thing is definitely worth watching, and even for those of you who aren’t fans of the President, he deserves a big round of claps for sitting down on this interview. It’s cool, it’s funny and he can be doing something else with his time, you know, other than caring about whether some 22-year-old bro gets healthcare or not. Anyway, enjoy!
