There are a number of fans who are worried that the upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will suffer from some serious villain bloat. Could our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) be facing one too many adversaries within the span of two hours of film time? Perhaps, but from the sounds of it, there is one that won’t be getting too much screen time.
Director Marc Webb recently talked about this little dilemma that’s happening in the upcoming Spider-Man film. There’s so many villains that the hero has to deal with, but apparently The Rhino has been cut down to a very, very minor role. As a matter of fact, The Hollywood Reporter was able to squeeze out how much screen time Paul Giamatti‘s character would have:
“Paul [Giamatti] is in the movie for four minutes.”
While it is a little disappointing to hear that Giamatti is barely going to be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, that leaves room for his character to develop in a future film. Also, from the looks of the latest trailers, it appears as if Electro (Jamie Foxx) is taking center stage in the villain role throughout a majority of the film, or at least that’s what the recent previews have lead us to believe. In all honesty, so long as they hit Spider-Man’s life-changing milestone with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) with her impending death, then I’ll be a happy camper.
Shout the Rhino be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at all?
