A whopping nine years after Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller first brought the original Sin City adaptation to the big screen, we finally have our first full look at the long-delayed sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Like the first film, it contains interconnected vignettes that jump back and forth in time (characters that died in the first film reappear here, still alive, in prologue stories), and like the first film, it’s all black and white with splashes and red. And, pretty much, it’s exactly like the first film. If you enjoyed the original Sin City, it looks like Sin City: A Dame to Kill for will be right up your alley.
The film is made up of four tales. Two of them are new and written specifically for the film—one featuring Nancy (Jessica Alba) on the run from Senator Roark (Powers Booth) after the events of the first film; the second finds Joseph Gordon Levitt playing an arrogant gambler who beats Sin City’s biggest bad guy at a game and pays the price. The other two tales—“A Dame to Kill For” and “Just Another Saturday Night” come from the graphic novels themselves and involve the characters Dwight and Marv. Check it out:
Directed by Robert Rodriguez, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For stars Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Michael Madsen, Jamie King, Christopher Meloni, Dennis Haysbert, and Juno Temple. The film is set for an August 22, 2014 release date.
