For almost a decade, fans were rooting for director Adam McKay to get the sequel to Anchorman off the ground. After some negotiating with Paramount, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was made. Is there a possibility that we’ll be seeing yet another sequel anywhere in the near future? Unfortunately that’s a hard no.

First off, can you really blame Adam McKay and company? It took so much time and effort to finally get Anchorman 2 off the ground, so there isn’t a good reason as to why would they put in more energy in another sequel that definitely isn’t a for-sure thing. The story of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), in some ways, is completed from the eyes of Adam McKay. This is what he had to say on the possibility, or lack thereof, a sequel:

“It’s done. I think that’s it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy. No, that’s the last sequel that we’re going to do. There’s nothing more fun to me than new characters and a new world. And now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3.”

That about seals the fate of their ever being a sequel, especially since Anchorman is Adam McKay’s baby. There’s no need to feel sad about it, especially that the Super Sized R-Rated Version of Anchorman 2 is out in theaters now.

Did you want to see one more sequel to Anchorman? Why or why not?
