Yet another full-length trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has dropped, and like the previous ads to hit the internet, multiplexes, Super Bowl, etc., it’s a heady mix of comedy, action, ominous drama, and the ever-increasing dread that the best film this character is ever going to get was made a decade ago. Between the floating blue sparkly villain Electro, the emo-Goblin, and generally omnipresent and physics-defying CGI, it feels like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be a 2.5 live action video game; our only hope is that Paul goddamn Giamatti showing up in a Rhino robot suit and sporting a Russian accent will at least generate a funny meme or two.
As for the new trailer—it’s a lot of previously released material, plus a handful of blink-or-you’ll-miss-‘em new shots and few new clips of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s banter, which is the only thing that made the first film salvageable. Check it out:
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-stars Jaime Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, and Chris Cooper, and is set for a May 2 release date.
