Now that the fifth Terminator film has its official title (Terminator: Genesis), its brand new Sarah Connor (in the form of Emilia Clarke) and its John Connor (Jason Clarke), it was only a matter of time before the production set its sights on casting the film’s Kyle Reese, the man who travels back in time to have John with Sarah, so that John may later lead a revolution against the machines of said future.  And the race to play Kyle Reese appears to be down to two actors.

According to Deadline the actors up for the lead to anchor Terminator: Genesis are Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook.  Reese was originally played by ‘80s James Cameron regular Michael Biehn in the original film, The Terminator.  And while Courtney has more of an action star “look” as well as experience in films like surprisingly great Jack Reacher and the absolutely terrible A Good Day to Die Hard, Holbrook (Milk, Gone Girl, Behind the Candelabra) does actually resemble Biehn, just in case the fifth film in an increasingly convoluted time-travel franchise actually wanted to shoot for, you know, continuity.

Terminator: Genesis will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and is set for a July 1, 2015 release date.
