It hasn’t even been a week since the passing of acclaimed Hollywood actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, but Lionsgate has to move quickly to figure out what will happen to the remainder of his scenes in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. We know that most of the scenes with his character, Plutarch Heavensbee, have been shot, except for a couple. Lionsgate has just the solution for their sudden problem, and it may sound a bit odd.

Lionsgate is moving forward with digitally inserting Philip Seymour Hoffman into the last scene or two his character’s in for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. When this was first mentioned, my mind shot back to memories of a digitally younger version of Jeff Bridges in TRON: Legacy, but I believe Lionsgate will be a little better than to do that. What they’re planning to do is digitally insert some of his dialogue, have a silhouette or blurry side-view of him towards the edge of the screen while he’s carrying on a conversation with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) or whoever else would be in the shot. It is a much classier way to deal with keeping him in the film, rather than taking him out and hiring another actor for the role.

They’re still in the middle of filming the two-part finale for the universally popular movie franchise The Hunger Games. While many fans are looking forward to the final installments, it will be especially bittersweet due to the passing of this fantastic actor.

Do you think Lionsgate is making the right choice for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2?
