The Lego Movie is set to open this Friday February the 7th. Thus far, reviews for the film have been solid to excellent, and the film is expected to do killer business. So, even though the film has yet to be released, Warner Bros. is already set to release a Lego Movie 2.
This isn’t terribly surprising news—the film is well-reviewed and is expected to make beaucoup bucks, so it makes sense that Warner Bros. would lay the groundwork early for a sequel to keep cashing in, especially as co-directors/co-writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been developing the project since 2008. As such, Jared Stern (sigh, The Internship) has been hired to co-write the sequel.
It’s hard to imagine The Lego Movie not dominating the weekend box office, as well as the rest of February—the trailers are great, and film features a stellar cast: Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Liam Neeson, Charlie Day, Morgan Freeman, Will Forte, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Cobie Smulders. Absolutely, ridiculously stuffed with talent, that cast.
The Lego Movie premieres this Friday, February 7.
