Now I’m not a fan of the Twilight series, but I understand why so many women fell in love with the supernatural romance franchise. A ton of obvious fan fiction, rated G to X, eventually spawned out on the internet, but nobody every thought it would transform into anything more than that. Now here we are, talking about how Universal Pictures is looking to chuck out some sex scenes in the fan fiction turned potential franchise with Fifty Shades of Grey.
Universal is interested to get a broader audience to sit down and watch Fifty Shades of Grey, and with that they’re willing to cut out some sex scenes. Right now there must be a number of horny fans across the nation upset over this news, simply because this is what makes the novel appealing in the first place. For those of you who are unaware of the story line, it follows a young, naive and legal-in-the-eyes-of-the-law young woman by the name of Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) who explores the full potential of her sexuality thanks to the highly experienced Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). A lot of fun sexy time happens in the book series, which is why it’s gained so much attention from an older female audience. It still disturbs me slightly that there’s merchandise for Fifty Shades of Grey out in cheap jewelry stores that teenage girls shop in.
So now Universal wants the sex scenes out, which in a way makes the idea of there being a Fifty Shades of Grey movie less appealing to its fans. Why? Because it’s taking out the best part of the books, though the sexual acts aren’t too overly kinky. Personally I don’t see the point as to why they have to make these bland books into movies, but that’s what we’re getting in 2015 no matter what we say.
Are you going to give the Fifty Shades of Grey movie the time of day when it’s out in theaters?
