Ron Howard has been attached to The Dark Tower for quite some time now, and we’ve heard casting rumors bubble up from every once in a while, but nothing has been set as the film was passed on by both Warner Brothers and Universal. But now there’s some cool news about it, and for fans of the books and Breaking Bad, it’s great if it comes to pass. Aaron Paul has met with Howard about the part of Eddie Dean.
Talking to Eric “Quint” Vespe over at Ain’t it Cool about all sort of things, Paul revealed
“I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show (Breaking Bad, naturally), which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am. They’re definitely planning on making it. I’m excited. Their goal is to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting. From what I hear, Eddie Dean is a pretty epic, iconic character.”
Of course it’s worth noting that meetings generally mean nothing, and Howard might have just wanted to size up Paul, who is definitely working his way onto the big screen in a large way. Currently he’s got Need for Speed coming out this March and the Ridley Scott film Exodus due in December. That said, Howard currently has a full plate as he’s currently making In the Heart of the Sea, and is supposedly following that up with a third Robert Langdon film with Tom Hanks called The Lost Symbol, so it’s unlikely we’ll see a Dark Tower film before 2017 if Howard directs.
Is Aaron Paul perfect for Eddie Dean or what?
