Toy Story Christmas

After three movies, three short films, and a Halloween special, the Toy Story gang is being rounded up again, this time for a Christmas special called Toy Story That Time Forgot that’s set to debut later this year. It’s almost surprising it’s taken this long for the gang to tackle the holiday season directly, as so many of the characters are Christmas gifts.

In fact, Buzz Lightyear was introduced as a Christmas present, so perhaps this is a way of taking things full circle. Today it was announced that they’re working on this spin-off, which will bring back Tom Hanks‘ Woody, Tim Allen‘s Buzz, Kristen Schaal’s Trixie, Wallace Shawn’s Rex, Timothy Dalton’s Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles’s Mr. Potato Head and Joan Cusack’s Jessie. Here’s the plot description:

During a post-Christmas play date, the ‘Toy Story’ gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It’s all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room.
New for this special is Kevin McKidd, who will be playing Reptillus Maximus, and likely the character that leads the gang into trouble. At this point it’s probably for the best that the series maintains the shorts and specials over a feature-length narrative. Toy Story 3, as great as it is, ended up covering some of the same territory as the second film, though in a much blunter way. We’d expect this will be hitting ABC around Thanksgiving.
