Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans have something they should get super excited about, and that something is Bill Paxton. Now he won’t be shouting lines like “Game over man” in the latest episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D. anytime soon, but we’ll be seeing plenty of his face in the upcoming story line.
Apparently the character Bill Paxton will be playing is Agent Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) former S.H.I.E.L.D. co-worker. From the looks of the picture below, Paxton has got Gregg beat in the looking-absolutely-badass department on this show. His character, Agent Jonathan Garrett, is in fact a name that some Marvel comic book fans should know. He’s a former bad guy who turned into a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent with a big advantage; he’s a cyborg. Now we’re not entirely sure if they’re going to deal with that story line, but if they do then maybe it’ll show people that S.H.I.E.L.D. is capable of making cyborgs and don’t be surprised if that’s what Agent Coulson is after all. We went through the latest episode without a real explanation still, and with the sudden arrival of Agent Garrett, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that he’s entangled in Coulson’s big discovery story line. At least we have Bill Paxton on S.H.I.E.L.D. for four episodes. Maybe that will be enough to make the show more entertaining and bearable to watch.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jed Whedon gave his few cents on why they decided to bring this character into play:
“We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger.”
Jed Whedon, you didn’t have to say that. I’m already sold on the idea of having Bill Paxton on S.H.I.E.L.D. Now check out the first official picture of Paxton in uniform below:
