In a fairly clever marketing turn, the upcoming RoboCop remake is collaborating with the real police force out there to urge you to not drink and drive. Well, they don’t want you to do that but they really want to remind you that the RoboCop movie is coming out early next year.

In the 30 second television spot we see RoboCop in two variations of his outfit, one of them being the iconic silver and black getup that fans of the original know and love. We see him speed around town in his sweet new black motorcycle, and in some ways he blends in perfectly with it. After all, we do live in a day and age where slick looking automobiles sell, why wouldn’t RoboCop look the same? He’s all shiny, new and filled with all sorts of gadgets that turns him into the ultimate cop. But don’t let that distract you from the other reason this ad was put together, and that’s to make sure you don’t do something stupid like drink and drive out on the roads. It’s the holiday season folks; if you’re going to celebrate it through adult beverages then stay put at home.

Between the footage that we’ve seen so far from this little ad and the trailers, we’re definitely in for some big time action. The question is really about the story and whether or not those involved in this remake are making additional twists in order to grab our attention. We’ll have to be the judge of that when we see the movie in theaters on February 12, 2014.

Will you see the RoboCop remake?
