Breaking: Since Joseph Gordon-Levitt is seemingly contractually obligated to be rumored to star in every upcoming comic book adaptation ever (so far: Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Man of Steel, and The Justice League), it came as no surprise when news broke in late November that the actor was in talks to star as lead character Morpheus in the big screen adaption of Neil Gaiman’s classic comic, Sandman. Gaiman’s basic premise for the mind-twisty comic? “The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision.”
Further, Deadline is reporting today that Gordon-Levitt is finalizing a deal in which he will both produce and star in the film; additionally, the actor is looking to make the film his directorial follow-up to Don Jon, as well. David Goyer is also set to co-produce.
We’ll have more on this as it develops.
