The 21 Jump Street reboot was a success that no one saw coming. Thanks to the chemistry between stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill , the movie turned out to be one of the most entertaining comedies of 2012. In the sequel (which was a certainty for Columbia), officers Schmidt and Jenko are back for another go at the drug game. Check out the red-band trailer for 22 Jump Street below.
In the sequel, which brings back directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Capt. Dickson (Ice Cube) sends Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) undercover again, only this time, they won’t be posing as high school kids, but college students. And it looks like the pair will be doing a little bit of the same in the sequel, which is trying to find out who the main drug dealer at the college campus is. Still, this movie is more about the chemistry between the leads, and the comedy points, than it is about plot.
The red-band trailer shows all kinds of shenanigans, and most of it makes no sense, but that’s part of the appeal. Nick Offerman appears briefly in the trailer, and states the obvious, “No one gave a shit about the [21 Jump Street] reboot, but you got lucky.” They certainly did. Here’s the trailer:
