While it seems borderline impossible to imagine anyone other than Linda Hamilton in the role of Sarah Connor, the character she played in the original The Terminator and then made indelible with her feral performance in Terminator 2, that’s not stopping the filmmakers behind Terminator: Genesis, the fifth film in the Terminator franchise: Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has been cast in the role of Sarah Connor, fast food waitress turned mother of the future savior of mankind to warrior badass.
Initially, the role had been down between Clarke and Brie Larson, but it appears that Clarke won out, as Deadline is now reporting that she has clinched the role. And, seeing as how it’s both a Terminator film, and the guy slated to play her son (Jason Clarke) is nearly twice her age, we’re guessing some heavy time travel will be involved in the story.
Little else is known about the film, other than the fact that franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger is also slated to appear in the upcoming film/ sequel/ reboot/ remake/ whatever.
Terminator: Genesis is set for a July 1, 2015 release date.
