In the lead-up to the film’s trailer premiere on Wednesday, December 18th, Fox has released four new teaser posters for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which, despite the goofily-long title, we’re pretty excited for, as the equally verbose Rise of the Planet of the Apes as surprisingly great.
Unsurprisingly, the teaser posters feature Caeser (Andy Serkis) and his warrior apes decked out in war paint over their less than pleasant-looking faces. The fact that their decked out in warpaint seems to indicate that the man-ape conflict at the center of this franchise my finally kick off in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Check out the official plot to see if you can suss out the reasoning:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Of course, the fact that the franchise is called Planet of the Apes pretty much indicates who wins the war in the end, right?
Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set for July 11, 2014 release date.
