Though we’re still not sure who’ll play the role of Sarah Connor in the Terminator reboot, Annapurna Pictures and Skydance Productions have now given the movie a working title. The pic will be called Terminator: Genesis, but this name isn’t set in stone yet. As the movie nears its date of release, the title could change into something else (though that’s not always a great idea).
The Terminator reboot still has a long way to go before it heads into production as casting is no where near finished. The hunt for the role of Sarah Connor is still underway with Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson in the lead. We think Clarke would be a great choice–she already plays a strong female character (Daenerys Targaryen) in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Both Daenerys and Sarah Connor share a lot of similar qualities, so it wouldn’t be hard to accept Clarke as a powerful female lead. On the other hand, Brie Larson seems to be this year’s breakout star due to the success of Short Term 12, so giving her a large part in a known franchise would be great for her career.
Producers are also looking for a new John Connor and Kyle Reese. But word is that they want to cast Sarah before they decide on anyone else.
Directed by Alan Taylor, Terminator: Genesis is being penned by Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). The film is slated to hit theaters July 2, 2015.
