Another day, another news update about how Disney has upped their monopoly over every aspect of pop culture. In addition to being, well Disney (and all that it entails), the company also distributes all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise (a.k.a., any and all Avengers-related films) and now owns the entirety of the Star Wars franchise. So what’s next? Today, it was announced that Disney will now be distributing all future Indiana Jones films as well.
That’s right, Mickey now has his hands on Indy. It breaks down like this: Disney has made a deal with Paramount Pictures, so that Paramount will continue to distribute the first four Indiana Jones films, and can financially participate in any future Indiana Jones films that are made.
Disney, however, now has distribution and marketing rights to any and all future Indiana Jones films.
So what does this mean? Well, there are no longer any rights issues holding up an Indiana Jones 5, meaning that all that’s needed now is Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas to agree to come back together and continue ruining the beloved franchise with more bad modern sequels.
What do you think of the Indiana Jones news?
