Quentin Tarantino’s next film will be a another Western. While many things Tarantino says about his upcoming projects should be taken with a grain of salt—remember The Vega Brothers? Kill Bill Vol. 3? (though we should probably still hold out for the Inglorious Basterds-related Killer Crow)—the fact that the writer-director is already writing the script for his next one makes us think that this is actually a piece on concrete news, rather than a random stream-of-consciousness musing from the guy.
The director recently paid a visit to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he discussed his love of the Western genre, and how he wants to make another now that he learned how to make one with Django Unchained:
I can’t talk that much about it, but I will say one thing. I haven’t told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It’s a western. It’s not a Django sequel, but it’s another Western. I had so much fun doing Django and I love westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it’s like “OK, now let me make another one now that I know what I’m doing.”
You can watch him discussing it with Leno below, as well as a discussion about his evolving writing style:
