Marvel has finally put an official stamp on all those casting rumors we’ve been hearing for months about Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen. So, for those of you who were still a bit skeptical about them being cast to play Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch in Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age Of Ultron, here’s your official confirmation.
In a press release, Marvel said:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen have officially joined the Avengers family as the brother-sister duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2012′s smash-hit Marvel’s The Avengers!
Rumors of Johnson and Olsen’s new Marvel gig hit way back in August, and slowly started to get more official. Samuel L. Jackson confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that Olsen had been added to the cast.
Later Olsen confirmed this news while promoting Spike Lee‘s Oldboy (which opens this Friday). She talked about how much she loved Johnson, and noted that she would be playing his wife in one movie (Godzilla) and his sister in another (Age Of Ultron).
Latino Review was the first to report of Johnson’s new superhero role. The site reported back in October that the Kick Ass actor had already inked a deal to play Quicksilver, and that the studio went with him because they wanted him to bring the same “bland, personality-less performance style” that he brought to his character of Kick Ass.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for a May 1, 2015, and will also star Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and James Spader.
