Well… I suppose that when a full red-band trailer for a Lars Von Trier film called Nymphomaniac presents itself, we really shouldn’t be surprised at its edgy content, but still—if you happen to be at work right now, perhaps it’s best if you save your Nymphomaniac trailer viewing for a time in which your boss isn’t standing right behind you and wondering why you’re watching Shia LaBeouf have graphic sex with a teenager.
In Nymphomaniac, Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Joe, a bruised and beaten woman who shows up at Stellan Skarsgard’s door. As he nurses her back to health over the course of an evening, Joe tells him about her sexual life story, and how she believes herself to be a nymphomaniac, or sex addict. The film is broken into eight chapters, and reportedly deals with a great many philosophical themes, even though the trailer pretty much just hits up the graphic sex.
Nymphomaniac does not yet have a U.S. release date, but expect the four hour film (cut down from a whopping five hours) to be released stateside sometime in 2014. The film co-stars Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Udo Kier, and many more.
