As you may recall, the Marlon Wayans-starring Paranormal Activity spoof, A Haunted House, was released in January of this year, and despite its shoestring budget ($2.5 million), annoying star (Wayans), and depressingly unfunny “jokes,” it went on to make about $60 million. And of course, in the ten months since its surprisingly successful release, a sequel has already been pitched, approved, written, produced and filmed, and is now set for an early 2014 release. Sigh… let’s just get this over with.
Directed by Michael Tiddes, A Haunted House 2 looks to be basically the exact same as the first—Marlon Wayans lives in a haunted house, screams very loudly (because… it’s funny, I guess?), and everyone proceeds to make super “edgy” race-related jokes. We don’t really get the appeal of this film, but hey, someone paid to see the five—count ‘em, five—films in the insipid Scary Movie franchise, so perhaps you’ll enjoy this trailer more than we did:
Still interested? If so, A Haunted House 2, which co-stars Essence Atkins, Affion Crockett, Dave Sheridan, Gabriel Iglesias, Jaime Pressly and Ashley Rickards, is set for a March 28, 2014 release date.
