Today in “hey, someone said random actor X will star in random prospective blockbuster Y so you better report it” news: the blockbuster casting news has it that Parks and Recreation supporting actor and star of the upcoming Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt, is currently in talks to star in Jurassic World.
Previously, Josh Brolin had been in talks to take on the lead role in Jurassic World, the fourth film in the Jurassic Park movie franchise. Now, it appears that Pratt is being sought out to replace Brolin and lead the Jurassic World cast.
Pratt has shown himself as a charismatic character actor through several seasons of Parks and Recreation, and his recent transformation from chubby schlub to muscle-bound leading man for Guardians of the Galaxy has shown that he can do the whole chiseled lead actor gig. Which means he could be perfect for the lead role in Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic Park sequel. It will, however, be interesting to see if Pratt’s increasingly busy film schedule keeps him from appearing in Parks and Rec—Guardians of the Galaxy has already rendered him MIA for most of the show’s most recent season.
Jurassic World is set for a June 12, 2015 release date.
