Last week Fox decided to delay the premiere of J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman‘s new sci-fi drama Almost Human, but they’ve now released a seven-minute preview of that very premiere via Hulu. The series, which stars Karl Urban and Michael Ealy, is set in Los Angeles 2048, where law enforcement has become so dangerous that every cop is paired with an android partner.

The first eight minutes offer a glimpse into the world Abrams and Wyman (both of who were executive producers on Fringe, which ended earlier this year) have created. The series is being promoted as a ‘high-tech, high-stakes action drama.’ Almost Human focuses on the unlikely partnership between a part-machine cop (Urban) and a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.
The show will premiere on November 17 at 8PM, after Sunday night football. After that it will move to its regular time slot on Mondays at 8PM. Here are the first few minutes:

Sci-fi is a great and interesting genre, but we have so many TV shows and films about dystopian futures and insane androids nowadays that it’s getting harder and harder to get invested in something new. Earlier this year, CBS put out the sci-fi drama Under The Dome, and even though it had its fair share of decent episodes, overall, the first season was pretty bad. Almost Human is also airing on a major network, and though the first seven minutes look appealing, we’re afraid we’ll be dealing with something similar to Under The Dome (and if that’s the case, no we’ll pass). But this is Abrams and Wyman we’re talking about, and they’re both good at what they do, plus we have Ealy and Urban leading the cast, and they’re also great to watch.

So what do you think? Will you be tuning in to watch Almost Human? Do you think this series has the potential to be great? Or is it too soon to tell?
