Edward Norton hosted SNL for the first time ever this past Saturday, and there were a lot of great moments that came out of his episode. The highlight of the night, however, was definitely a mock video titled The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders, which was basically a fake trailer for a Halloween slasher movie as directed by the super quirky Wes Anderson.

The trailer is filled with nods to Anderson films, especially The Royal Tennanbaums and 2012′s Moonrise Kingdom, which starred Norton. In the clip, he’s seen in a blonde wig, disguised as Owen Wilson, and gives a spot on impression of the actor. Check it out:

Look, we know this clever slasher movie isn’t real – though we would totally watch it, as the trailer states, “You had us at Wes Anderson” – but the SNL team deserves a pat in the back for coming up with this excellent trailer. One can tell that the people who wrote this really knows their Anderson because it has everything: a polite paper-plane note from the murderers, typewriters, a picture of Edith Piaf, yellow Futura fonts, a stop-motion mouse, and old record players. Basically, everything we love about a Wes Anderson film.

What do you think? Was SNL‘s spoof video spot on?
