It’s been weeks since Ben Affleck was first cast as the latest movie version of Batman for Warner Bros‘ upcoming crossover film Batman Vs. Superman. Now some of us are wondering what’s going on in Affleck’s mind now that the world knows that he’s Batman. Is he starting to feel the pressure? Does he care less about what other people think of him in the role? Well luckily somebody talked to him about it, and he gave them a response.
“Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris[topher Nolan] and Christian [Bale] made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.”
That’s a lot of pretty words there, but that doesn’t make all fanboys and fangirls like myself automatically believe that this movie has the makings to be fantastic. There’s a lot riding on it, and with that comes a certain amount of anticipation and worry as to what the final product will look like. Either way it’ll have some cool action scenes between the Kryptonian man and the Dark Knight.
Do you think Affleck has what it takes to be a great Batman? Why or why not?
