Rumors regarding an Army Of Darkness sequel have been flying around since March. But for the first time since then, we might actually have some real, solid information on where this movie stands, and if it is indeed happening. Actor Bruce Campbell, who starred in the original Army Of Darkness, was at Wizard World Nashville and commented on the sequel.

Before confirming that Army of Darkness 2 is actually still happening, Campbell joked a little about how his character Ash would appear in the sequel. He said:

“The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here… Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadline to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it… Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

The sequel to the early ’90s cult classic was talked about earlier this year during the press tour for the Evil Dead remake, which was directed by newcomer Fede Alvarez. Later, producer Rob Tapert revealed that the Evil Dead 4 Raimi was working on was in fact Army of Darkness 2 (and the Internet went crazy).

Campbell and Alvarez later teased that there would also be a crossover movie that would combine Ash’s journey with Mia’s (Jane Levy) story from the Evil Dead remake. And later Alvarez expressed his desire to remake all of the Evil Dead trilogy, mentioning that everything would have to be a “shocker.” It looks like everyone is eager to make this happen, it’s just a matter of time and money.
