The wonderful rumors that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would return to host the 2014 Golden Globes are true, true, true! And not only that, but the two comediennes will also host the show in 2015, as part of their deal with NBC.
The news was announced earlier today by Theo Kingma, president of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. He mentioned in a statement:
“We are thrilled Amy and Tina have decided to return as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards for the next two years. Their return ensures that the Golden Globes will once again be the biggest, best and most entertaining awards celebration of the year.”
Paul Telegdy, NBC’s Alternative and Late Night Programming President, also expressed his thrill for the ladies’ return. He called them “two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business.” He also called last year’s Golden Globes “the most entertaining awards show of the season.” He might be a little bias there (seeing as this is his show and all), but he’s not wrong. Last year’s Golden Globes was a lot more entertaining than the Oscars, and that’s because of these two lovely best friends. They didn’t need to be super mean (here’s looking at you Ricky Gervais) to be funny; they just lightly poke some fun at people around the room. Fey and Poehler are hilarious women, and together they have some awesome chemistry. If we can compare their friendship to any other pairing that has ever existed in show-biz, we’d say they’re like the female Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau of our generation.
So here’s a little clip from last year’s Globes, you know, just to get you a little more excited:
NBC’s 71st Annual Golden Globes Awards will air live at 5PM on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Are you looking forward to having these two ladies host again?
