While the upcoming Superman Vs. Batman film wasn’t expected to begin production until sometime in the Spring of 2014 (and in Michigan), it appears that production is set to launch, well, now, as Zack Snyder and Co. will be on hand for the East Los Angeles College football game this Saturday to film selected scenes for Superman Vs. Batman, because apparently we didn’t get enough Batman-plus-football in The Dark Knight Rises.

East Los Angeles College Campus News is reporting the information, stating that the Superman Vs. Batman production will be on-hand to transform the stadium into “the Gotham City University home stadium” for a game that pits the fictional university against its rival, Metropolis State University.  Further, “the first 2,000 people who sit in the filming area of the stadium will receive T-shirts designed by Snyder for those participating in the filming.”

But don’t expect the football game to generate into a massive spectacle of an action sequence in which Batman and Superman wrestle in the sky while the football players battle below on the gridiron beneath them (which, considering this is a Snyder film, wouldn’t surprise us): the production will be there to shoot “three takes of three plays and capturing the actors and crowd’s reactions.”

No word on whether or not any of the film’s stars will be on hand for the scene.

Superman Vs. Batman is set for a July 17, 2015 release date.
