In addition to already getting it’s director and three writers, it appears that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is already set with its first villain, one that means that Sony could indeed be on track to establishing the Sinister Six supergroup of villains that has long been under discussion. So, who’s it gonna be?
Well, it’s the Rhino. Yes, the Rhino, the same villain that’s already confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which means that yes, Aleksei Sytsevich, a.k.a., the Rhino, a.k.a. Paul Giamatti, will be surviving the events of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and will be returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
Giamatti confirmed the news in a recent interview with Collider, mentioning that will be returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but maybe not The Amazing Spider-Man 4:
“I think I’m only doing the next movie, I don’t think I’m in the next-next movie.”
As for whether or not he will be returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 4 (with its implied Sinister Six), Giamatti simply said that “they’ve not told me anything hard and fast about that.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for a May 2, 2014 release.
