Though it’s taken years and years, Edgar Wright is starting real pre-production work on his adaptation of Ant-Man for Marvel, and it seems like the film will finally actually happen. The film is now dated for July 31, 2015, and though no casting has been officially announced, Wright confirmed he’s about to get going on the film via Twitter.
Just today Wright sent out a picture on Twitter with this information:
Now I’m back in LA, it’s high time to finish a little something I’ve been working on… pic.twitter.com/ko3u1q45C4

And here’s a slightly bigger look at that picture:
That looks like the suit that was tested out in Wright’s demo reel (which was shown two years back at Comic-Con and is now viewable as a Blu-ray supplement), and it’s not like Wright would be kidding around about this. He was hired to work on this project back in 2006, when he was coming off of Shaun of the Dead but before Hot Fuzz, so he’s been on it for seven years with two to go. He wrote the script with Joe Cornish, who went on to direct Attack the Block, and the duo have had to weather questions about it for quite some time.
What’s interesting is this — like Star Wars: Episode 7 and Fantastic Four and so many of the bigger movies of 2015 — has no announced cast members yet, they only have a release date. We’re guessing in all these cases that will come together shortly.
Who would you like to see as Henry Pym?
