That’s Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair above, one of the new cast members to join the The Hunger Games phenomenon in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film has released a bunch of new pictures featuring Jennifer Lawrence‘s Katniss Everdeen, Liam Hemsworth‘s Gale Hawthorne and Josh Hutcherson‘s Peeta Mellark along with new and returning cast members.
Here’s that gallery:
So there’s a good look at Jena Malone, who joins the cast as Johanna Mason, Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s Plutarch Heavensbee, Jeffrey Wright‘s Beetee and Amanda Plummer‘s Wiress along with returning favorites like Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, and Woody Harrelson.
Catching Fire should be a blockbuster, though it would be interesting if the first film was simply a flash in the pan. Lionsgate has already prepped The Hunger Games: Mockingjay as a two part conclusion to the story (it worked for Harry Potter and Twilight), and so the machine to complete the book series is already under way. There’s no way Catching Fire is going to tank, but at the rate sequels are made these days, it’s not too long before we see a studio fall on their face with this approach. But with a cast this impressive, at least the series has involved quality performers to deliver the material. Catching Fire opens November 22.
