After a summer of heavy marketing, Fox finally premiered Sleepy Hollow. Monday, viewers got their first look at the latest adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic story. It stars British actor Tom Mison (Parade’s End) as Ichabod Crane and Nicole Beharie (Shame) as Lieutenant Abbie Mills. They both try to decipher their pasts, which are linked to supernatural danger. Were you intrigued? Vote in our poll and let us know if Sleepy Hollow has what it takes to survive.
Sleepy Hollow has a lot of star power lurking behind the scenes. The pilot was directed by Len Wiseman, who also serves as executive producer. He shares producing duties with fanboy favorites, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The episode even featured a guest appearance by John Cho, who worked with Wiseman in Total Recall, and Kurtzman and Orci on the Star Trek films.
Sleepy Hollow isn’t a straight adaptation of Irving’s tale. The writers take some creative liberties. There’s time travel, plus a Riggs and Murtaugh relationship brewing between Ichabod and Abbie. We also like the idea of Orlando Jones playing the role of their no nonsense boss.
Overall, the show looks like a fun horror fantasy. It could easily be a genre treat like NBC’s Grimm or the upcoming Dracula.
