One of the most striking things about the latest clip of Ridley Scott‘s The Counselor is how solid Michael Fassbender‘s American accent is, but considering we’ve heard the actor (whose father was German, but was raised in Ireland) do a perfect Queen’s English, that should probably be no surprise.
In the latest clips we see Fassbender trying to get into the world that Javier Bardem is holding away from him, and Cameron Diaz and Bardem having a bit of a morbid discussion. Though the movie isn’t due out until October, the release plan seems to involve peppering the internet with clips and trailers. It’s hard to know if the film has made much of an impression on regular moviegoers, but the film is a little far out to start its television campaign. And we’re the sort of people who were sold when we saw the cast and crew.
This also brings up the biggest question: can Diaz bring it? It’s been a while since we’ve seen her give a memorable performance that wasn’t in a comedy (and most of her more recent comedies were… eh). On top of the new clips there’s been five new character posters released featuring Fassbender, Bardem, Diaz, Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz. They come from the film’s UK Facebook page. Check ‘em out:
It seems like Bardem’s hair is always meant to look like it’s exploding out of his skull, like he’s a freeze framed victim of violence. The Counselor hits theaters on October 25, and we can’t wait.
